Brief info
Dr Manish Ram has been involved in the development of the renewable energy sector since the last decade, started his career with the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST) at the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore researching various renewable energy systems and their applicability. Furthermore, he worked at Greenpeace as a Renewable Energy Analyst in India.
He has completed his doctoral research at Solar Economy Group, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Finland, exploring socioeconomic impacts of the energy transition with an emphasis on the global south. He has an MBA-Energy Management from the Technical University of Berlin, EUREF Campus.
He has been involved in analysing energy policies across the country, developing concepts, conducting research, analytical assessments of various energy technology options and providing technical insights to various campaigns in the context of climate change and sustainable development. In the past, he has conducted social audits of the rural electrification scheme – RGGVY and submitted the findings to the planning commission.
Dr Ram was also involved in piloting a solar water pumping system in the state of Bihar and lead a team to conceptualise and build a 100 kW solar powered micro-grid system in Bihar, conducted a global ‘innovation challenge’ to develop low cost solar water pumping solutions for marginal farmers in Bihar and eastern India. He has worked with various stakeholders across the renewable energy development and finance sectors and conducted workshops and training sessions on climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
In the last few years, he has conducted research and is providing scientific consultancy services to clients across the spectrum on the energy transition with a focus on socio-economic aspects and the global south, role of PV prosumers in the energy transition and job creation during the energy transition.
