While announcing the partnership, Mr A. K. Rastogi (IFS, Retd.), Chairman of the Task Force on Sustainable Just Transition said that, “CEED is an institution of repute in sustainable environment and clean energy sector with a strong presence in the state and we are glad to engage it for providing knowledge management support to the task force and help out in conducting consultations, coordinate with and undertake capacity building of key stakeholders.” He further added that, ‘I am sure that CEED as a technical partner with its commitment and professional approach will contribute immensely in achieving the stated goals of the task force.’

It is mention-worthy that the Government of Jharkhand has constituted the Task Force in light of achieving India’s net-zero emission target by 2070 and achieving 500 GW non-fuel target by 2030. The main objectives of the Task Force are to study the effects of transition from fossil fuel based to non-fossil based ecosystem, assess the magnitude of nature of accelerated phase out of coal mines/industries and its impact on the economy, workers and communities, identify new opportunities in green sectors and sustainable financing, and further recommend policy intervention at cross sectoral level to move towards new ecosystem on low carbon pathways, etc.
