Job Description

CEED is seeking a motivated and technically strong Associate – Climate Tech to support its growing work on climate analytics, geospatial intelligence, and technology-enabled decision support. The position offers an opportunity to work on real-world climate and development challenges, translating complex spatial and temporal data into insights that inform policy, planning, and on-ground action.

The role requires an individual who can think end-to-end, from data and analysis to systems and dashboards and understands why technology matters in climate action, not just how to use tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage climate tech workflows, covering data sourcing, processing, analysis, system integration, and dashboard delivery
  • Process and analyse satellite imagery and geospatial datasets to support climate risk assessment, urban planning, energy systems, environmental monitoring, and resilience initiatives
  • Work with time-series and near–real-time datasets relevant to climate, environmental, and urban indicators
  • Conduct raster and vector analysis, classification, index development, and change detection
  • Ensure geospatial accuracy, validation, and documentation of methodologies and outputs
  • Develop and maintain Python-based geospatial analysis pipelines
  • Manage and query spatial databases (PostGIS or equivalent)
  • Handle large datasets efficiently and build automated data pipelines for repeatable analysis
  • Support or collaborate on cloud-based geospatial processing (e.g., Google Earth Engine), where required
  • Apply or experiment with machine learning techniques for spatial or climate datasets, where relevant
  • Design and build interactive geospatial dashboards integrating maps, charts, and time-series
  • Translate complex technical analysis into decision-ready visuals and insights for governments, partners, and internal teams
  • Ensure dashboards are performant, user-friendly, and aligned with decision-making needs
  • Work closely with climate, policy, and programme teams to ensure technical outputs align with real-world implementation requirements
  • Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and knowledge products
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in climate tech, geospatial analytics, and data systems, and share learnings within the organisation

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Climate Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Data Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 0-2 years of professional experience in geospatial analysis, climate tech, remote sensing, or related domains
  • Strong working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing principles, including projections and coordinate systems
  • Proficiency in Python-based geospatial workflows
  • Experience working with spatial databases (PostGIS or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with satellite imagery processing, raster analysis, and spatial validation techniques
  • Experience with interactive dashboards or web-based geospatial visualisation is highly desirable
  • Exposure to Google Earth Engine, cloud platforms, or machine learning for spatial data is an advantage
