As of 2016, 548.2  million motor vehicles were registered in Bihar. The increase in the number of motor vehicles in Bihar has been largely concentrated in a few major cities among which Patna, the capital of Bihar, has witnessed the growth at the fastest pace. Owing to increased urbanisation, and being the most important economic and cultural centre of the state, the demand for mobility in the city has increased.
