Background
Jharkhand, known for its abundance of minerals and industries, is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. In order to forge a path towards a low-carbon future by achieving national climate goals and net-zero targets, Jharkhand is actively embracing sustainable solutions to combat climate change, stimulate economic growth, and enhance social well-being. To facilitate this endeavor, the Government of Jharkhand has established a Task Force on Sustainable Just Transition on November 9, 2022 to assess, estimate and recommend the transition roadmaps and pathways for the state. Subsequently, the Government of Jharkhand constituted a Task Force on Green Hydrogen on March 17, 2023. The Task Force on Sustainable Just Transition has representations from 17 state departments and agencies to streamline the overall functions and work in a convergence approach.
A significant milestone in this transformative journey is the unraveling of the vision document titled “Nav-Nirman Ki Ore : Sustainable Just Transition in Jharkhand.” This document serves as a crucial resource for policymakers, researchers, and individuals with invaluable insights and guidance for the effective implementation of climate actions and augmenting the process of a sustainable transition in the state.
