Patna, 10 August 2015
More than 60 civil society representatives joined the call for 100% renewable energy for Bihar campaign in the first regional consultation that happened in Patna. They have pledged to take the message back to their constituency, engage with the public on this issue and garner support for a renewable energy revolution in the state.
The three-hour consultation included an introduction to CEED and our work in Bihar, a film screening and a discussion on the impact of fossil fuels on climate change. While there was apprehension around the economic feasibility of renewables, there was unanimous support that the government should investigate clean energy options and provide policies to enable investment in renewable energy.
The representatives promised that they would mobilise support from thousands in their respective constituencies and would play the role of an alert and responsible civil society by nudging the Bihar government towards the direction of clean energy.
