The collaboration shall promote research on sustainable development and low carbon transport
CEED and the Malaviya Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (MCIIE), an incubation wing of the IIT-BHU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to research and collaborate on sustainable development and low carbon transport. The collaboration aims to address the growing environmental crisis in the country through innovative solutions and replicable business models.
The research collaboration has been conceived at a time when the country is looking forward to promoting innovative models to roll out ‘Electric Vehicles for All’ by 2030. CEED’s Director, Programs, Mr. Abhishek Pratap, who was present for the signatory event, said “CEED is pleased to enter this collaboration to further the research in sustainable solutions and electric vehicle technology. CEED has been actively lobbying for clean air, clean energy, and sustainable waste disposal for the last 3 years in the Indo Gangetic region, with focus on Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. This collaboration aims to explore practical and replicable EV models that can be implemented in these regions, as there is a dire need to switch from the polluting fuel based vehicles and as well as to meet the country’s targets under the Paris Accord.”
Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Coordinator, MCIIE, IIT-BHU, said, “IIT-BHU has been one of the pioneers in taking up solar energy forward by setting up a 1.5 MW rooftop solar system across the campus and thereby reducing our carbon footprint to a great extent. This collaboration with CEED will further help explore, innovate and incubate newer models in solar-based charging stations for electric vehicles in Varanasi and the country as a whole.”
The Malaviya Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (MCIIE) is an incubation center of IIT-BHU where students are encouraged to innovate and incubate models that are helpful to the people and help support entrepreneurs to develop sustainable business models. CEED is hopeful that this collaboration will help bring about positive changes in the EV market in the region.
